It feels like this word has become kinda cliche. Overused. Trendy, even.
But what is a community, really? What makes it something that everyone wants to be a part of?
Everyone is PART of a community in some form or another - your city, your gym, your workplace, your school - whatever. But there’s a huge difference between being a part of a community that you are included in by default, and a community that feel you really BELONG.
As human beings, we crave belonging. We’re born with an intrinsic need to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Belonging is what makes a house a home, makes friends turn into family, and makes you feel supported and at ease. Most people find that feeling of being whole, happy, and complete, when they find the city, job, group of friends, whatever it is - where they feel like they truly belong.
We all want it, so it should be easy right?
Unfortunately, no. We all know how easy it is to feel excluded and isolated - especially when you move to a new place, or start a new job, or start living a lifestyle that’s different from what your friends and family are used to. And studies have shown that feeling lonely and unsupported can actually harm our physical and psychological health, our self esteem, intellectual achievement, and immune function. Not cool.
Our business was built on the idea of bringing people together. We care about wellness, of course, and about helping people better themselves through food, fitness, and self care. But honestly, what gives us ALL the feels is knowing that the best benefit we can give others is the benefit of connection. Of community.
In the end, that’s what the GOOD Society is all about. On top of the recipes, guides, articles, discounts, and physical products you receive with your membership, you get a space where EVERY single member supports you. And believes in you. And makes you feel like you’re a part of something bigger than yourself. The GOOD Society is a place where you can feel safe to share your challenges and triumphs, your questions and your confessions. We’re here to help you, but also to cheer you on. And what’s better than a few more cheerleaders in your life?
So yea, maybe the word is overused. But in the end, we’re all in this crazy world together. And we sure as hell feel a whole lot better getting through it with all of you by our side.
